Statue of Liberty


The Statue of Liberty was a gift for The United Stated from the people of french in 1886, for commemorate the American Declaration of Independence, how a symbol of friendship between countries. Is one of the most famous monuments of the world. The Statue of the Liberty is one of the seven wonders of the world.



The statue is on Liberty Island in New York harbor. Originally the island was known as Bedloe Island and served as a military base.The base of the statue (of stone) was built by the United States, according to the agreement reached with France. Despite economic problems in 1886 the base was completed.




The statue was built in 1884 and later was removed to send to U.S.A. , where it was staged. It was
inaugurated in 1886 . From 1886 until 1902, was used as a lighthouse: "U.S. Lighthouse board".In 1908 was added an elevator, in 1937 several decks and stairs and in 1949 a heating system.




Currently, the statue is visited by 3.5 million of persons every year and there is a museum and a gift shop under it.Its the most important symbol of U.S.A.
